Each time Action Water calls upon the generosity of individuals and companies we are well aware of the huge amounts of money given in response to TV appeals and sophisticated mail shots. But the very future of Action Water belongs to you, not us.

We may not have the funds to maintain the profile of the largest aid agencies but we like to think that our work speaks for itself. With just a handful of staff and scarce resources Action Water has come to the aid of 2.5 million people across Africa, India and the Middle East since 1985.

In the past we have relied heavily on corporate donations to fund our work in the absence of government support. Funds have been generously donated by large corporations including food and drinks giant Diageo, brewers of Guinness.

A rainwater harvesting plant, supplied to a suitable pitched-roof building costs in the region of £8,000 to £10,000 but in an area like Nairobi (where rainfall is for 10 months every year) will supply the needs of 2,500 people daily with safe drinking water.

This resource, properly maintained, is self-renewable and durable. The health and well-being of whole communities can be changed almost overnight.
